I have known about this for awhile... There is a simple way to get around it... every replacement is defective, period. It does not function the way you want it too anymore...

I recently replaced a motherboard. I had to call to activate windows because it wouldn't take the number that the PC already had. I just explained to the rep that I just replaced the motherboard (HP PC) and he activated it for me with no problems. Maybe I just got lucky.
