Yeah, TRON is really cool. I had't heard of it until I started playing a few TRON-based games like Armagetron, which I still play...
I don't know if I know this from the extras on the Toy Story or TRON DVD, but TRON, it seams, inprired to the creation of Toy Story, and thus could be counted as first in the Disney computer animation line, with Toy Story {1,2}, Monsters Inc. Finding Nemo, The Incredibles etc...
Alas, it is not usually counted in this line and loses some publicity to Toy Story...
The Internet as we know it didn't exist at the time, there were some interconnected BBS, and universities had created a sort of internet, it was more like USENET than what we see today.
The Lightcycles rule, along with all those red, blue lights. The movie was a little slow, but still interesting.
The orginal TRON video game was great. The lightcycle 'snake' game, tank maze, throwing discs and shooting the lowering wall with your arm. They need to bring that game to consoles in a classics collection.
Yes I enjoyed the Movie its funny how so many of the terminology is used today back then when you herd of ROM you just thought it was a cool name now it actually makes sense of what it is. Ahead of its time it was.
No No NO see this is where classics should stay classics and no remakes or even sequels once movie studios start doing this they take and ruin the whole essence of it. Look a Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for example might as well take a good classic movie and wipe you ass with it, is the same thing.
The game in effect was a sequel. It didn't do well at all on the consoles, but I enjoyed it a great deal. The story was decent, and the RPG elements of upgrading your programs and deciding what you want loaded into memory was great. If you haven't played this one, and you liked the movie at all pluck it out of the bargain bin immediately.
I know I saw the movie a long time ago. But I can't remember a damn thing from it. Never played 2.0 either. Gonna have to make the movie a Netflix rental.
Highly recommended if you are into SCI FI and into Computing or just a plain Geek you will enjoy the movie. See im all of those rolled into one
SCI-FI+Computer-Guru+GEEK and a sprinkle of Coolness = BaldEagle 1 ;-)`
Watching Tron on DVD, the entire picture got digitized with yellow dots from halfway to the end. Something wrong with the disc, "a glitch in the program". Only seems to happen on my PS2.
