3 Lights RRoD + Xbox 360 + Towel trick = Working again

I just tried the towel trick on my broken 360 that is getting replaced anyway. I don't suggest you do this unless you have no other recourse.

You basically take the hard drive off and wrap the entire unit in a towel to prevent the excess heat from escaping then turn the console on for about 15 minutes to cook. After, shut it down and unplug it for an hour or so.

My console came back to life! No RRoD, but I only tried it for a few mins last night. What happens is the unit gets so hot that it melts the solder that was cracking to cause the red lights in the first place. This could potentially damage other parts of the 360 but since I'm getting a replacement, I just wanted to play GTA 4.

BSoD's cousin returns!

Didn't work as well as I thought.

It gets about 5 minutes in and then freezes with another RRoD.

How long did you have this X-Box?

Well, GTA4 is managing to explode 65nm 360s, so don't feel that bad.

2 Days, it was probably faulty to begin with.
