Echoworx Enhances PGP Interoperability Capabilities

Interoperability of encryption capabilities bring added value to customers and partners

TORONTO, May 3 -- Echoworx Corporation, (http://www.echoworx.com) the leading provider of managed encryption services for complete enterprise email and data protection, today announced that its PGP interoperable Encrypted Mail Gateway privacy application has new features and functionality to easily enable automatic encryption and decryption of messages at the gateway.

"We are ever mindful of the importance of interoperability and this added functionality ensures ease of use for our current PGP integration customers between third party PGP (and S/MIME) credentials," says Michael Ginsberg, President and CEO of Echoworx. "With more stringent regulatory requirements, interoperability and ease of use of encryption capabilities are becoming increasingly important. Our privacy applications have always helped businesses overcome the complexities of deploying end-to-end encryption solutions. PGP compatibility makes it even easier and increases the potential market for all Echoworx privacy applications."

New legislation on the part of HIPAA for example has been raising awareness about interoperability of encryption solutions, says Abner Weintraub, President and CEO of HIPAA Group Inc. in Los Angeles. "When looking at the sheer number of user encryption requirements, there is absolutely no question that automated encryption, and more importantly email encryption, is critical."

With this latest announcement, anyone with a valid third party public certificate such as PGP or S/MIME can easily upload their credentials into the Echoworx key repository. Any new messages sent through the Encrypted Mail Gateway will automatically be encrypted. This service is free to third party credential owners.

Features of Encrypted mail Gateway include:

--  Self-managed and intuitive credential handling
--  Automatically harvesting and storage of newer versions of public
      certificates
--  Automated warnings when the credentials are about to expire
  --  Automatic decryption of replies
--  It's free for the third party credential owners
