First Speech-to-Text Messaging App for Android

Promptu's ShoutOUT for Android(TM) offers hands-free texting capability, transcribing messages dictated in natural speech; first version of ShoutOUT to feature text message voice addressing

MENLO PARK, Calif., April 23 -- ShoutOUT, Promptu Systems Corporation's free speech recognition app that lets users compose text messages in natural speech instead of typing, is available for the Motorola Droid(TM) in the Android Market.

No other Android speech recognition app used for text messaging - including Google Voice functionality in Android 2.1 - comes close to the accuracy of ShoutOUT, which is fully integrated with the Android SMS client and uses Smartword, Promptu's editing tool that lets users see and select from likely word alternatives.

But what advances the Motorola Droid(TM) version of ShoutOUT close to Promptu's vision for totally hands-free messaging, is its ability to use voice commands to address text messages.

"ShoutOUT is great for texting on the go when you don't have two free hands for typing - it's much more intuitive and natural than the awkward process of typing on a phone," said Giuseppe Staffaroni, Promptu's CEO.

All Promptu applications are built on state-of-the-art speech recognition technology and are recognized in the industry for extremely high accuracy rates. To maximize accuracy for ShoutOUT, a personalized acoustic model is assigned for every user during the app's registration process. Promptu's ShoutOUT for iPhone, released in late December 2009, continues to receive strong reviews.

ShoutOUT's speech recognition is server-based, and 100-percent automated.  All message transcriptions that appear on users' phones are created with no human intervention whatsoever, so privacy is guaranteed.

  ShoutOUT standard features include:
  --  Voice Addressing
--  Full integration into the phone's messaging service
--  Message exchanges threaded by recipient
  --  Thumbnail images for contacts
--  One-touch navigation to all recent incoming and outgoing messages

By using voice as the interface, ShoutOUT is the most intuitive and natural alternative to the awkward process of entering text on a mobile phone.

The Motorola Droid(TM) version of ShoutOUT will be available on Monday, April 26 in the Android Market.
