GarrettCom Expands Physical And Cyber Security Support For Surveillance And Security, Other Applications

Expanded VPN Support and Wireless Connectivity Top List of New Offerings

LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- GarrettCom®, Inc. rolled out hardware and software products designed to deliver the highest level of physical and cyber security in industrial security and surveillance applications here at ISC West International Security Conference and Exposition. See GarrettCom in booth 3134. Products include:

  --  GarrettCom's new Magnum(TM) DX940, an industrial router configurable
with both cellular wireless and a full range of wireline ports,
--  Extended IPSec and VPN security capabilities in the company's MNS-DX
router software including cellular and radio wireless support, which
provide interoperability with the broadest possible range of
      Enterprise routers,
--  Distribution rights for GE MDS wireless LAN extension products and
backhaul from GE Digital Energy to support solution systems for secure
wireless transmissions among dispersed industrial facilities in areas
such as water treatment, transportation, power utilities, energy
      production, mining, and similar operations.

GarrettCom offers one of the broadest selections of industrial-hardened switches and routers, with associated cyber security networking and solutions software, available to systems integrators and distributors of security and surveillance systems for harsh environments and other industrial applications.

DX940 Industrial Router for Increased Flexibility, Wireless Data Access

GarrettCom's Magnum DX940 expands the company's line of industrial routers with a powerful but compact product that is configurable with both 3G wireless and a full range of copper cable and fiber wireline ports. It is the first DX router to incorporate GarrettCom's port-module flexibility that offers a wide variety of configurations within the same router base package.

Extended IPsec and VPN Security Capabilities for More Secure Data Transmission from Security and Surveillance Appliances

The Magnum DX family of routers will be available with Version 3.0 of GarrettCom's MNS-DX router software, which offers the kind of cyber security features and richness required for secure surveillance and access control in industrial networks. The MNS-DX software supports a wide range of cyber security capabilities covering both electronic perimeter protection for remote sites and management security for the DX line of routers themselves. Because MNS-DX offers interoperability with the broadest available range of IPsec/VPN standards, it ensures secure transmission of security and surveillance data - even when transmitted over a public carrier or a wireless connection. Extensive Support for Wireless LAN Extension and Backhaul

GarrettCom's agreement with GE Digital Energy to offer GE MDS wireless LAN extension and backhaul product, provides one-stop support for GarrettCom customers that need rugged wireless data transmission from remote security, surveillance or operational installations. These secure wireless devices, when coupled with the robust VPN/IPsec capabilities available in GarrettCom's MNS-DX router and MNS-6K switch software, ensure the highest possible security for wireless transmission.

"Traditionally, fiber optical cables and public carriers have been used to extending the LAN across many miles to interconnect remote industrial facilities," said Frank Madren, President of GarrettCom, Inc. "Today, industrial-grade wireless products are proving to be the best solution. Using the resiliency options built into GarrettCom's industrial-hardened Magnum 6K switches and MNS-DX routers, the high-speed wireless links can also provide an alternate redundant path to existing or new networks," he concluded.

The GE MDS products offered by GarrettCom include the Mercury(TM) 3650, the Intrepid(TM), and the iNET-II(TM) 900 products. The iNET-II utilizes unlicensed communications technology and is typically used for shorter distances where secure data collection from a few devices or management access is needed.

The Mercury 3650 is typically used for distances and throughput beyond the iNET-II capabilities. Since Mercury uses the licensed spectrum, clutter from other networks is avoided. The frequencies used by iNET-II and Mercury 3650 products are approved for use in North America.

The Intrepid products are typically used for creating a high-throughput point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection spanning longer distances. Intrepid products use licensed as well as unlicensed bands and are suited for use anywhere in the world.

"With robust, industrial grade wireless products from GE Digital Energy in conjunction with VPN, firewall, and other security capabilities found in MNS-DX and MNS-6K, GarrettCom offers a one-stop solution for secure communications for perimeter security, access control, and other distributed applications," said Lee House, CTO of GarrettCom, Inc.
